biography
Lucrezia Roda (b.1992) is an Italian photographer and author, currently living and working between Milan (Italy) and Lugano (Switzerland). Always attracted by visual art, she studied at the Italian Institute of Photography (IIF) and theatre and stage photography at Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
Born and raised in Erba, a small town nestled amidst factories and manufacturing plants, she developed a fascination for the world of industry and the artistry that lay within its very fabric. Her vision, personal projects and commissions are mainly devoted to industries and the transformation of the matter during industrial phases, which she processes and interprets through photography. Her artistic vision is defined by her command over colors and meticulous attention to detail. An integral part of her creative process lies in postproduction techniques and her images are best experienced in large fine-art printed formats. Mainly known for her work on steel industries (“STEEL-LIFE”), with industrial landscapes or abstract images, Lucrezia Roda blurs the lines between industrial photography and personal research.
She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, in various locations including the Institute Culturel Italien de Paris, the Arts House at the Old Parliament (Singapore) and the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi (Vietnam). In 2018, she is one of the winners of the RaM Sarteano Award at MIA Photo Fair. In 2019 she won the “Premio AIF Nuova Fotografia” awarded by AIF at Milan’s Photofestival “for the determination with which she dedicated herself to photography from a very young age, first by creating a conscious path of study, then developing her expression focused on the search for a contemporary language”. In the same year her first catalog “Lucrezia Roda, STEEL-LIFE” was published by Vanilla Edizioni. In 2021 she is among the finalists of the Arte Laguna Prize. In 2022 she won the first prize at “Utopie di Bellezza”, awarded by Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi. Her latest project is “GLASS POWER”, taken to the historical glass manufacturer Venini in Murano and published in the book “VENINI – the Magic of Glass”, edited by Rizzoli, 2023. Her works can be found in various collections, including the Dino Zoli Foundation and the 3M Foundation.
